Emissions are playing an increasingly important role as a quality feature of the logistics chain. Products that are offered as environmentally friendly are also expected to be transported with as few emissions as possible. So what exactly are these measures that can significantly reduce the CO2 emissions of a transport?

“First comes the right choice of vehicles, which must meet the highest emission standards. A low kerb weight, aerodynamics and the choice of tyres are also important factors in achieving low rolling resistance. Regular maintenance and inspection of the vehicles keeps them in good condition. Precise route planning and regular driver training with Eco Drive courses then lowers fuel consumption even further.”

what many people do not suspect: There is another important component in modern trucks that contributes significantly to lower fuel consumption and less CO2 emissions. And that is the battery. Most drivers are used to start the engine from time to time to power their electronic comfort functions when doing their weekly rest break of 45h. But engine idling consumes around 3 liter of fuel per hour in average and emits additional CO2 to the atmosphere. VARTA ProMotive AGM A1 batteries can significantly reduce this unwanted idling. This was validated by TÜV Nord in a comparison with the conventional Super Heavy Duty battery.
