  • Siden årtusenskiftet har start-stopp-teknologi blitt introdusert i stadig flere bilsegmenter og -modeller for å overholde stadig strengere utslippskrav. I dag er det nesten ingen nye biler som leveres uten start-stopp-funksjon. Med andre ord, jo nyere bilen er, desto mer sannsynlig er det at den har automatisk motorstans.

    Hvis bilen er utstyrt med en batteristyringssensor, har den et start-stopp-system eller i det minste et smart ladesystem som krever avansert batteriteknologi som AGM eller EFB.

  • For en bil med start/stopp-system er de anbefalte batteritypene et AGM-batteri (Absorbent Glass Mat) eller et EFB-batteri (Enhanced Flooded Battery).

    Hvis et AGM-batteri allerede er installert i bilen, må det alltid byttes ut med et annet AGM-batteri, siden bilens energistyring kan overbelaste et våtcellebatteri, noe som fører til forkortet batterilevetid.

  • Selv om både AGM- og EFB-teknologier brukes til start–stopp-applikasjoner, er det noen forskjeller i teknologienes ytelse. Mens EFB er et forbedret våtcellebatteri, er AGM et batteri som er spesielt utviklet for krevende bruksområder og kan støtte alle typer start–stopp-systemer og også xEV.

    Det anbefales ikke å nedgradere fra et AGM til et EFB, siden kjøretøyets energistyringssystem er utformet for en viss batteriytelse. Oppgradering fra EFB til AGM er derimot alltid mulig, og anbefales når kunden har tilbakevendende batteriproblemer.
