Selv om både AGM- og EFB-teknologier brukes til start–stopp-applikasjoner, er det noen forskjeller i teknologienes ytelse. Mens EFB er et forbedret våtcellebatteri, er AGM et batteri som er spesielt utviklet for krevende bruksområder og kan støtte alle typer start–stopp-systemer og også xEV.
Det anbefales ikke å nedgradere fra et AGM til et EFB, siden kjøretøyets energistyringssystem er utformet for en viss batteriytelse. Oppgradering fra EFB til AGM er derimot alltid mulig, og anbefales når kunden har tilbakevendende batteriproblemer.

For å få en pålitelig start av motoren er det avgjørende med tilstrekkelig CCA-ytelse. For å få lang levetid og best mulig trygghet må batteriteknologien (AGM, EFB, SLI) samsvare med kjøretøyets energibehov. For energikrevende bruksområder, spesielt for varmefunksjoner i trailere og bobiler eller campingvogner, er kapasiteten i kombinasjon med den anbefalte utladningsdybden avgjørende.

For å forlenge batteriets levetid må du følge noen få fremgangsmåter:
- Koble fra kablene: Koble alltid fra minuspolen først for å unngå kortslutning, og koble deretter fra plusspolen.
- Kontroller batteriets tilstand: For tradisjonelle syrefylte blybatterier som skal vedlikeholdes bør du oppsøke en fagmann. For vedlikeholdsfrie batterier, rengjør ventilasjonsrørene og unngå å kontrollere elektrolyttnivået.
- Start lading: Hold batteriet oppreist hvis det tas ut av bilen. Slå av strømforbrukerne før du kobler til laderen. Koble først den røde kabelen til plusspolen og deretter den svarte kabelen til minuspolen.
- Stopp ladingen: Slå av laderen når batteriet er fulladet. Koble fra kablene ved å begynne med den røde kabelen fra plusspolen, deretter den svarte kabelen fra minuspolen.
